If you would like to hear a quack, then you would prefer it right from the duck’s mouth. So, with that in mind, here is some information on the Google wallet that has come from the Google admins. They released a fair amount of information on the whole Google wallet digital wallet, but unlike most articles have said there is no evidence that the Google wallet app is available for all types of phone (i.e. all operating systems). Here is some true and correct information about the Google wallet, including the fact that it is now available on the Android operating system.

Is the Google wallet a new thing? What is it all about?

Brand new it is not, but it has recently been updated, and that is what all of the fuss is about. You can store your financial information on this wallet, which means you may store your debit cards and credit cards to that you do not have to carry them around.

Sadly, at the moment the Google wallet is not accepted everywhere, but it will save you having to get out your credit or debit card in establishments that do accept the Google wallet. In essence you can use it to both buy online (a bit like PayPal), and buy in stores. You can buy in stores with the PayPal debit card, but the Google wallet allows you to do it electronically. Also, a lot like PayPal, you can send money to people in the US who have an email address and their own Google wallet.

Is it available for all operating systems on all mobile phones?

No it is not, at least not yet. The operating systems that it works for are the Android (v2.3+) and the iPhone (iOS v6.0+). If your Android has NFC functionality, then it is also possible for you to tap to pay in-stores with your Google Wallet app. This is only available on a few Android phones that have the NFC functionality fully enabled.

Where can I get the Google Wallet app?

You can find it in the Google Play store and the Apple app store. It is highly recommended that you only download it from those two online stores, as you do not want to risk giving your information to an app if you cannot be sure of its integrity. If you were to download it from another website then you cannot be as sure of what you are getting.

Is there a Google wallet app?

Yes, there is, but it is currently only available to Americans living in the USA. People in the USA are also the only ones able to use their Google wallet in approved stores. This offline service is not available in other countries yet.

In which stores can I use my Google Wallet?

You have to look for stores that have a contactless payment system in place. Such  scheme is not widely available yet, but the store that have it are likely to display its logos in prominent positions because they know that people enjoy new payment techniques such as this and that people may enter the store and buy just so that they can try the novelty of paying with a new payment method. Even though few places accept the Google wallet, there are still thousands of place in America that do; after all, it is a very big country.

Is it going to cost me money to use my Google Wallet?

The service is free, a little like PayPal. If you receive money from another person, then that is free, and uploading money so that you can pay for items is free too. There is no standing fee for the card, and the only one that you are likely to come across whilst using it is if you want to send money using your debit or credit card, as they do charge a fee for that service.

Can I use my Google wallet online?

It is a little like PayPal, except that it is not accepted on as many websites as PayPal. Still, as you can imagine, you can use your Google wallet within all of the Google stores such as Google Play, Google+, Chrome Web Store, YouTube and Google Drive. There are also Android apps that will allow you to make purchases through them, and some of those apps accept the Google wallet.

Which countries will allow me to have a Google Wallet?

America is the only real country where the Google wallet is fully available. In the USA you will be able to sign up for Google wallet, use it online, send money, receive money and pay for things in shops with it. There are other countries where you may sign up for a Google wallet, but they only allow transactions to be done online. There are 125 countries which may use a Google wallet to pay for things on the Google play store, and 160 territories and countries are able to use a Google wallet with selected online stores.
