For does who understand less what a USB port is, It is a connection point on computers and many other electronic devices. Almost all modern day computers have USB ports and through this ports, you can transfer as well as receive information on your computer.

You may be a victim of virus attacks through the use of USB devices such as flash drives, pen drives e.t.c. Or someone may have copied files or folders from your computer unknown to you from a USB device and the only way to stop these things from happening is by blocking/disabling the USB port on your computer.

How To Disable/Block USB ports in widows PC

I will be showing you two steps to do this:

How to disable/Block USB port through the device Manager of your computer

  • Click on your Start Bar
  • Under search programs, type Run
  • When it opens, type devmgmt.msc and click ok or press Enter
  • And it will open your device manager
  • Now Navigate Universal serial Bus Controller and Expand it, See screenshot below :



  • After Expanding the USB Controllers, right click on the selected Ones and select Disable. Do the same for all Expanded USB options.
  • Now your USB ports are Disabled, if you want to Enable them again, right click on the selected ones and click Enable.


Now the Second method is Disabling USB port Through third party tool

You can also disable/block USB port on your computer using a third party software called USB port locked. It is a portable tool that enables you to disable USB port on your computer.







The software is protected by password, that means no one can lock or unlock USB ports except you. The application also supports removal of USB disk, that means it has no result when used for USB peripherals such as mouse, key boards e.t.c. The application works well on all windows computers both 32 bits and 64 bits versions.
