Choosing the Perfect Domain can be very troubling atimes especially when you want that very nice domain that will suit the perfect niche. Most times choosing a domain name can be the very reason why some people keep running their blogs on top level sub domains like .blogspot.com and .wordpress.com. It actually took me weeks to come up with the right domain name for my blog Hence I choose the one am using now.
I will be sharing my own little recipe for choosing the right domain name. A good domain name can be instrumental to helping you get that quality traffic you desire especially when the domain contains the three recipe I will be listing below.
Recipe for Choosing the Perfect Domain
Listed below below are the three recipes that will make your domain nice and fit your niche.
- Simplicity : It is very necessary for a domain to be Short and simple as it makes it easy for people to remember your domain hence can help improve Organic traffic. A long and complex domain can easily be forgotten and makes it hard for people to visit your blog and that might give your rival who has a simple and short domain an edge over you as a visitor might prefer to visit his blog since his domain is what he or she can remember to spell and type easily.
- Keywords : It has been argued over the years that keyword has nothing to do with choosing the right domain but I must say that from my recent research it has shown that Keywords play a very vital role in getting traffic to a domain name. For Example, Assuming I want to search for names on the search Engine Google, and i type Name, the first domain the will pop up is Name.com which shows that the keyword name which is included in the domain name has just given traffic to Name.com, So if your domain name contains keywords, it can really help drive traffic to your blog but that does not mean that a domain with a keyword will always rank first on Search Engine results.
- Branding : Branding is very important in choosing the right domain name and with the introduction of new domain extensions like .expert, .guru, .entrepreneur, .technology, .biz and many others, branding a domain name has become much more easier. If you want to open a technology website then .technology is for you and if you own a business, then .biz is for you.
I hope you consider these my recipes before choosing domain name for your blog or website.
