Mary Jo Foley has listed a couple of Microsoft Products that will be left for dead and Widows Phone 7.8 is among that list. Windows phone 7.8 was built by Microsoft as a stop gap measure to lessen the ire of windows phone 7.5 users.
According to Microsoft, who published and later retracted, what looks like a note of computing users concerning the end of support for a number of it's products and windows phone 7.8 was on the list and would lose "mainstream support" in September.
According to Microsoft's general life cycle consumer products receive a two year update and support, after which they lose their support. There are no support for such products like the case of desktop windows that usually earn extensive support and updates.
This means that If you are using windows phone 7.8, you have just a few days before you will no longer have access for your phone to update ever again. According to Microsoft the update of windows phone 7.8 will only be available for 18 months, Windows phone 7.8 users only make up 17% of windows phone market hence the number is not small at all.
Windows phone 7.8 was only a solution to a temporary problem and Microsoft has decided that windows 7,7.1,7.5 and 7.8 will no longer share in the future of windows phones so I guess it's all over for these set of windows. I can't help but Imagine How it's users would feel not been able to update.

I am a windows phone user with windows 7.5 and even intend to upgrade to windows 7.8 so I wanna whether windows 7.5 will be affected as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Emmanuel, Yes from the press release Google made, Windows 7.8 will be in extinction soon. I will advice you either get or windows 8 phone or update to windows 7.8 which will be the last update.
