Infinix Zero Hands-On Review : Specifications and Features

Infinix Zero was released into the market in mid September this year, It is definitely one of the best mid-range Smartphones in Nigeria because of it's great specifications, premium features and surprisingly affordable price.

Unboxing Infinix Zero

Infinix Zero comes in a very sleek and attractive phone pack. The pack has two sections, the phone and it's user manual is one one side, while the phone charger and earpiece is on the other side.

Variants
There are two different variants of this phone, Most of the Specification in both variants are almost the same except for the RAM(Random Access Memory) and the ROM(Read Only Memory). There is one of 1GB RAM,8GB ROM and also 2GB RAM,16GB ROM. But I really love the one of 2GB RAM,16GB ROM because it's large memory.

Physical Appearance

Unlike most Android Smartphones that are made of cheap plastic, Infinix Zero is different. It is all covered in Gorilla glass 3,giving it that premium look that makes you want to have one. It has slightly curved edges that has a lightly chiseled end. This device is slim and is not heavy and I love the metallic frame.

The front is covered in Corning Gorilla glass, which is also scratch resistant. It does not have any physical button and also does not carry symbols as soft keys. It has three dots as soft keys for Home, Menu and Back.
The is also covered in Corning Gorilla glass and has dotted designs all over which makes it cool with Infinix crested at the upper part and Zero crested at the lower part.

The Sim card(dual) slot is a tray at the left side of the phone while the Memory Card slot is a tray at the right side of the phone just above the power button and volume controls. I will say inserting the Sim and memory card can be very frustrating sometimes since you need the help of a pin that would be inserted into a tiny hole beside each tray before the trays can pop out.It does not come with any Memory card though, I think maybe it's because of the size of the memory of both models of the phone.

Display
Infinix Zero comes with a 5-Inch HD Capacitive IPS Touch screen that is protected by Corning Gorilla glass 3 which is of no doubt very tough. I has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 294 ppi. The pictures and Imaging are very clear and bright.

Camera
This device comes with a 13MP back camera with LED flash light and also 2MP front camera. When compared to pictures taken with a 8MP Samsung or Sony Smartphone camera, I will say it is fairly good as the images come out bright and clear. The 2MP front camera is optimized for the best of video calls, other features include HDR,Geo-tagging and Auto Focus. I would have preferred the device is touch to snap but you have to touch the camera symbol at the screen in other to take photo.

Operating System
Infinix Zero runs on Android 4.4.2 Kikat which is the second best OS that Google has because the best so far is Lollipop which was released not quiet long and runs on very few Android Smartphones.
The 1.4GHz Octa-core processor(MediaTek MT6592) makes the phone incredibly fast and unable to hook when too many applications are been used at the same time.

Memory(RAM&ROM)
As I Explained earlier, There are two variants of this Smartphone. I am using bigger RAM variant which is 2GB RAM, it makes multi-tasking very easy and it's 16GB ROM gives me enough space for my applications and music but even got better when I started using a 32GB SD card along with it.
There is also the variant with 1GB RAM and 2GB ROM which some people might prefer.

Connectivity
As expected, The device supports Bluetooth, WiFi, Hotspots, WiFi Direct. Though it does not support 4G but that is not much of a problem as no Nigeria GSM Network provider has 4G network. It also support the network frequencies below :
  • 2G Network GSM 850/900/1800/1900
  • 3G Network HSPDA 900/2100
It also comes with a 3.5mm earpiece, USB port for charging and for other connectivity via USB cable .
Colors
It comes in three main Colors, Gold, White and the Shimmery Black which I love most.

Battery
Just like Iphones, Infinix Zero comes with a Non removable battery. Some see it as a disadvantage but I love it that way. Its battery contains Li-Ion with a capacity of 1920mAh. With heavy use, it can last for up to 7-8 hours but when used for just calls, It can last up to 14hours.

Conclusion
Infinix Zero comes 500mb data from Etisalat receivable for 1 year. It's screen protector is for both the front and back Corning Gorilla Glasses. It does not come with a power Back which is very disappointing and I think Infinix should add that. But It comes with a 6 months warranty, hence you do not have to worry about a broken screen or any malfunction within 6 months because your phone will be fixed for you free of charge at infinix carl care offices Nationwide.

  1. Nice review, I think the phone now comes with free power bank and free nationwide delivery. That not withstanding, I think it would make more sense if you can include a picture taken with the phone and the Antutu benchmark score of it pitched against other high-end smartphones like Samsung galaxy s4 and so on.

    Thanks
