Google recently introduced YouTube Music Key feature, a feature that has transformed YouTube into the music streaming service with the largest collection of music videos.
If you use the play music app for Android, you should a message as shown in the image below :

The YouTube app for Android comes with a very obvious download button that let's you save almost any music video.
When you click on it, you will see "add video to offline" dialogue box which let's you pick the quality of the video you wish to download : Normal - 360P, HD - 720P, then you can click on "remember my settings" if you no longer want the dialogue box to appear again. Click on "OK" and another dialogue box will appear which will ask you to "find your videos in the offline section of your menu".

Click on "show me" and you will be shown all your offline videos and playlist.
You can now choose which song to download or you can download the entire playlist. The music tab from the "what to watch" section gives you access to a lot of music playlist.
By default, YouTube continues to play music videos in the background but you can disable this feature or enable it only when you are using a headphone or external speaker, this can be done from the Settings button.
You can also use the music control from the notification bar or from the Screen lock, to pause a song, play the external song on the playlist or go back to the YouTube app.
When you are offline and without an Internet connection, you can only use the offline section and play music videos you have previously downloaded.
Note : This new feature is only available for music videos and not all YouTube videos.
